Jesus told a story about a son that had stolen from his dad, ran away and over time really messed up his life. When there was nowhere else to turn, he decided to go back home and beg his father’s forgiveness. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was filled with compassion for him; he ran to his son and threw his arms around him...” Luke 15:20

No matter what you’ve done, or where you’ve been, God loves you and is waiting for you with open arms, and so are we!

F.A.Q's

  • Can you describe Freshwater in a nutshell?

It doesn’t matter where you’re at on your “faith” journey. We all have questions, doubts and struggles. So at Freshwater you don’t have to be perfect to fit in… We certainly aren’t! More than that, you don’t have to get your life all cleaned up before you come to God (or church), because when you turn to Him, he will help you do that! He loves us just the way we are, but He loves us too much to let us stay that way. He wants what is best for us, that’s why He’s always asking us to take that “next step” to follow and trust Him more! In a nutshell, that’s what we believe and what we’re about. We’d love for you to join us anytime!

  • What can I expect at a Sunday Morning Service?

Freshwater is a pretty laid-back place. The music is good and the sermons are delivered in everyday language. Sermons are Bible-based and often focus on topics that are relevant to our everyday lives. On a typical Sunday, the service begins with a four worship songs, followed up by a teaching that usually lasts about a half an hour. The entire service takes about an hour and fifteen minutes. You can watch past services on our facebook page any time.

  • What should I wear?

There’s no dress code at Freshwater. Dress up, dress down, we don’t care. Wear whatever is comfortable for you. Our pastor usually wears jeans. We’re a pretty casual bunch.

  • I'm pretty messed up... is there a chance I'll get struck by lightening?

No. No one has ever been struck by lightning while attending Freshwater (that we know of).  No matter where you are in your faith, or what you’ve done in your past, you’re welcome here. There is no one so far away from God that He wouldn’t welcome them to His church. We try to live that out at Freshwater.

  • Do you do anything weird that I should know about?

We focus on relationships, not religion or rules. We practice communion about once a month, but whether or not you participate is based on your relationship with Jesus. Find out more about Communion below. Baptism is another thing we do on occasion. If you haven’t been around church much, it might seem different, but we it’s something we believe Jesus wants us to do in response to people making a decision to follow him… but again that’s totally optional and nothing we’d ever make someone do. Find out more about Baptism below. We don’t pass an offering plate or basket at Freshwater, either. If you feel led to give, use the envelope on the seat in front of you and drop it in the offering box on your way out.

  • What is Communion?

Communion is for those who have accepted Christ as their savior. We reflect on his sacrifice by eating a cracker dipped in juice. The cracker represents His body and the juice represents His blood. No one is required to, or barred from, participating. If you have questions about communion or salvation, one of our pastors is happy to help. You can see them after each gathering at the stage.

  • What is Baptism?

We practice what’s called “Believers Baptism” by immersion (dunking you under the water). It’s for those who have decided to truly “follow” Jesus… Or, in other words, become a Christian. We believe baptism itself doesn’t make you a believer; it simply demonstrates that you already believe. It’s important to understand that baptism does not “save” you. You are ‘rescued’ “…only by God’s grace”, He says, “through your faith” in the life and death of His Son, Jesus. So, Baptism is like a wedding ring… It is an outward sign of an inward commitment.  Some churches baptize infants. At Freshwater we don’t. We only baptize those who have made a decision to believe in Christ’s death as the payment for their sin, instead we do what is call an Baby/Child Dedication, but we believe that is different from Baptism.

  • What if I still have more questions?
